RELAYS

Re safe and shallow diving at Ashfield Pool, schools must ensure all members of the school’s swimming team both individual competitors and relay competitors in year of competition have undertaken the SCHOOL SPORTS UNIT Competitive Dive Safe video :COMPETITIVE STARTS for School Swimming Carnivals for Primary Students.

Please note: 4x 50m Relays will have swimmers 2 and 4 in water for a push start for their leg of the relay due to the shallow depth of Ashfield Pool. Relay swimmers in the water must ensure the referee can clearly see their contact with the wall prior to changeover with incoming swimmer. Balmain PSSA follows DET School Sports Unit recommendation for swimmer holding onto the wall with arm extended (feet tucked)for push starting as seen in safe Diving Induction video re risk management.
